They not only toured the world in a day when travel was slow and difficult, but Jack wrote about his own travels (and adventures) - both contemporary and those when he was a young man. Even his fiction was based on his own experiences.

In doing so Jack became the most popular author in the first two decades of the 20th century - and an author whose works modern day scriptwriters still subscribe.
