Paul Robeson
Although at first glance the casual reader may think this is a poor rendition of Toshiro Mifune in his famous role in The Seven Samurai, it is, of course, a drawing the late, great Paul Robeson.
That is, it's a drawing of Paul in his most famous stage role - that of Shakespeare's Othello. Of course, Paul starred in other plays and also appeared in popular motion pictures. Although his movies are not seen that often, many of the plays are still popular.
What seems strange about Paul's life is the international extent of his fame, and yet after a while older people began wondering what had become of him and their kids had never known he existed. An explanation of this conundrum requires knowing Paul's background and his general philosophy of life. It's this philosophy that still makes some people uneasy about praising what are definitely Paul's many virtues.
