Thomas Merton and John Howard Griffin
Although the author and illustrator of CooperToons has often been accused of sloth and indifference - as evidenced by the dearth of essays regarding those holding Traditional Family Values - but he indignantly denies such scurrilous attacks on his character, morals, and philosophy.
After all, the CooperToons website has featured worthies like John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, Clive Staples "Jack" Lewis, and even Albert Schweitzer.
And here we have two men whose philosophies and faiths are fully d'accord with Traditional Family Values. And absolutely no one of mental acuity and facility can dispute this statement.
Of course, when talking about Traditional Family Values, we have to be clear about what tradition we're talking about. And like all absolute and definite statements we must deal in relative terms. Certainly at the time and place where John Howard Griffin lived and worked, there were people who thought his philosophy departed from Contemporary Community Standards. And even today, the teachings of Fr. Thomas Merton are, well, they are "discussed" by some in traditional authority and not in the most favorable lights.
