Boid

It took some time but identification of this boid has been made as one of the genus of starlings called Lamprotornis. There are many species in the genus. The coloring suggests the lamprotornis superbus but the long tail pretty much rules that out. The color also doesn't quite seem to fit Lamprotornis caudatus which is the long-tailed glossy starling.

Instead the closest identification is the Lamprotornis regius or the golden-breasted starling. Lamprotornis regius is native to Africa and ranges along the eastern part of the continent from Somalia to Tanzania. Like many starlings the golden-breasted starling is not considered endangered or threatened, and its benefits are considerable. Unlike other starlings which eat mainly fruits and berries, Lamprotornis regius feeds on insects (particularly termites) and spiders, but sometimes sampling snails and even lizards.
