Bronze Casting - Lifting the Crucible
Here the crucible containing the molten bronze is being lifted out of the furance. All the weight is handled by the electric hoist and only a little effort is required to move the crucible to different locations. The main thing to watch for here is to make sure the bottom of the crucible clears the top of the furnace.
At this point the heat radiating from the crucible is noticeable for both the pourmaster and the "deadend" (standing closest to the camera). But the protective clothing makes it so it is not uncomfortable. The hoist operator is standing off stage right.
The heat also seems to effect the photodiodes on the camera as the color of the crucible and the bronze at this point is orange - a nice bright orange, yes - but not so white as you see here.
