Bronze Casting - Lowering the Crucible

Bronze Casting - Lowering the Crucible

Once out of the furnace the crucible is lowered to a small base (being hidden by the molds in the foreground) which is set within the clamp of the pouring rod (seen on the floor). The lift is unlocked and removed. The important part here is to get the crucible centered properly so it can be locked in the pouring rod. The instructor (in the background) is checking to make sure this is being done.

In the next few slides we'll actually go back a bit before the crucible is lifted from the furance to where the molds are being set up.
