Alberta Hunter
As in the re-rendering of the drawing of rock-'n'-roll star Bill Haley, this picture of the blues singer, Alberta Hunter, was rendered by - quote - "high technology" - unquote. It was created from a scaleable vector graphic file (SVG) and can be compared to the earlier rendering - which was from a hand-inked pencil drawing - by clicking on the image.1
As with the revised image of writer Flannery O'Connor, this image is actually a GIF file that was generated from the SVG file. Although the SVG of Carl Perkins was a true SVG it also took much more memory. SVG files are most suitable for images with fairly simple lines and color schemes. Unless there is a real need to be able to expand the image many times over, the GIF file is much more economical.
Whether the new technology is preferable to the old is, of course, a matter of opinion. But for those who want to know about Alberta's most interesting career - or rather careers - you can learn more if you navigate to the original page - based on the old technology - which you can do if you just click here.
