Doc Watson is the one musician that the author of CooperToons can honestly say he is a fan of (well, maybe Doc and his friend, Pete Seeger). There was a time - like before everyone had headphones - you could enter a CooperToons abode and the odds were even money you could hear a Doc Watson album (or perhaps Pete's).
A nice thing about Doc is that he was always happy to play in venues where you could not only hear him, but - a good experience for fledgling guitar pickers - actually see him. A performance from Doc at ten feet away was amazing. The notes flew from his guitar, and yet see his fingers barely seemed to move. Maybe the hand was quicker than the eye.
Well, enough said, except for those who would like to learn a bit more about Arthel Lane Watson - including two folk tales he told and which might raise a bit of a blush of a maidenly aunt. If you are in that crowd, just click here.
